(February 28, 2023) CBSI Associate Director William Ktsanes and Executive Board member Dr. Roger Chen, chair of the University of San Francisco’s Asia Business Leaders Research Program, brought USF students to the “APEC 101 – What Can We Expect from APEC 2023 in San Francisco?” discussion hosted by Asia Society Northern California. Asia Society is a nonpartisan, nonprofit educational institution with headquarters in New York, major centers in Hong Kong and Houston, and offices in Los Angeles, Manila, Mumbai, New York, Paris, San Francisco, Seoul, Sydney, Washington, DC, Tokyo, and Zurich. Asia Society Northern California connects the San Francisco Bay Area with global leaders and visionaries in policy, business, arts, culture, education, technology, and innovation. In November 2023, San Francisco will host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders and CEO Summit, a major gathering of heads of state, ministers, diplomats, and business leaders from the Asia-Pacific region. William Ktsanes, Roger Chen and students from CBSI’s Global Student Ambassador Program (GSAP) attended an informative discussion moderated by former US Ambassador to APEC Larry Greenwood with President of the National Center for APEC Monica Hardy Whaley and former US APEC Ambassador Kurt Tong. The panelists identified interconnectivity, inclusiveness, innovation, technology, and sustainability as key themes for APEC in 2023. Many thanks to Margaret Conley and Asia Society Northern California for hosting the discussion and inviting our students.
