Spring 2023 Global Sustainability Challenge (GSSC)

    January 10, 2023

    Dear CSBI-AP Community,

We are excited to announce that the Center for Business Studies and Innovation in Asia-Pacific (CBSI_AP) is now recruiting for the Spring 2023 Global Sustainability Challenge (GSSC). CBSI-AP is collaborating with IREX to connect students in the United States, Jordan, and Iraq to collaborate virtually on a sustainable solution to a contemporary business challenge in partnership with USF’s International Business Major Program.  During the last two cohorts, the center’s ISAP students landed third and second place in the final competitions.

Bi-national teams engage during an eight-week period (Feb 5- Apr 8) to create a sustainable business solution to a challenge selected from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Throughout the challenge, participants will develop workforce skills, network with industry professionals, and participate in a virtual career fair. At the conclusion of the challenge, bi-national teams will submit a video pitch and business concept for their prototype to the Virtual Global Business Expo, where the top three finalists will be selected by an advisory committee comprised of industry professionals and educators.

The top three teams will receive small grant awards of $2,500, $1,500, and $1,000 as seed money to develop their winning ideas.

Interested participants should email Professor Vivian Faustino at vrfaustinopulliam@usfca.edu to apply before January 30, 2023 (ISAP members and International Business majors are given preference).

The [Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge or Global Solutions Conversations program] is implemented by IREX and is supported by the Stevens Initiative, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, with funding provided by the U.S. Government, and is administered by the Aspen Institute. The Stevens Initiative is also supported by the Bezos Family Foundation and the governments of Morocco and the United Arab Emirates.
