Tim Kochis has over 42 years of experience in the personal financial and investment planning profession, most recently as CEO and the Chairman of Aspiriant until 2012. He was a founder of Kochis Fitz, one of its predecessor firms and before that, Tim was head of Personal Financial Planning for Deloitte and, before that, for Bank of America.

Mr. Kochis has received every achievement award in his profession and UC Berkeley confers an award for teaching excellence in his name. In the mid-‘80’s, he was responsible for supervising the creation of the first comprehensive examination now used throughout the profession to qualify CFP® candidates.  He is one of the his profession’s “Movers and Shakers” for leadership in organizations such as the CFP Board of Standards, the Foundation for Financial Planning, and for his founding role in the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB), the global certification authority for the financial planning profession.  Several of Mr. Mr. Kochis’ books include a book on wealth management for the Chinese market, with co-author, Zhang Bei, PhD., who has been an adjunct professor at USF.  He serves on the boards of USF, the Asian Art Museum, the 1990 Institute, and The Asia Foundation.   He also serves on the Charles Schwab ETF and Mutual Funds board.
