(October 20, 2023) The Center for Business Studies and Innovation in Asia-Pacific (CBSI) welcomed Vietnamese Consul General in San Francisco Hoang Anh Tuan, Fulbright University Vietnam President Scott Fritzen and key Fulbright stakeholders to the University of San Francisco. President Fritzen and his team met with USF School of Management Dean Otgo Erhemjamts, CBSI Executive Director Dr. Xiaohua Yang, Associate Director Roger Chen, Associate Director William Ktsanes, Executive-in-Residence Ker Gibbs, USF Economics Chair Dr. Peter Lorentzen and others for initial discussions about collaborative partnerships. Among the possibilities explored were student exchanges and a co-hosted academic conference. Discussions will continue when William visits Vietnam and Fulbright University in December.
President Barack Obama presided over Fulbright’s opening in 2016 as the first private, nonprofit, independent university in Vietnam. Its roots are in the Fulbright Economic and Teaching Program (FETP), a collaborative initiative of the Harvard Kennedy School’s Vietnam Program and the University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City. Fulbright receives partial funding from USAID and the US government. Instruction is in English.
