CBSI Faculty Granted Case Award

    CBSI faculty Roger Chen, Xiaohua Yang, together with Zaiyang Xie (CBSI Research Affiliate and an assistant professor at Zhejiang University of Technology), William Wei (Dean, Algoma University Business School), and Qingyue Huang (USF alum) won the third Prize of Tsinghua University “Outstanding Developer” Case Competition for the case entitled “New Business Development at Dahan Tricom Group”. This case describes how Dahan Tricom Group, a famous Chinese communications company in traditional business of Short Message Services, successfully achieved strategic transformation in a new B2B e-commerce business. The case study explores how the company incubated a new venture by leveraging internal resources and capabilities when faced with rapid development of digital economy in China. This case provides significant practical implications for corporate innovation and new business development.

    Tsinghua “Outstanding Developer” Case competition is a well-known, high-level case competition in China, rewarding excellent case studies in the area of strategy management, corporate innovation, human resource management, international business, entrepreneurship among others. The Dahan Tricom case was not only granted the third prize (top 20%), but also was officially accepted by China Business Case Platform. This case research was supported through CBSI research funding.
